EUROLIB is a grouping of European institutional libraries organised on the basis of an agreement adopted by Resolution at a General Assembly in Dublin on 18 April, 1997. This meeting was the 13th General Assembly of a previously informal grouping established on the initiative of the Secretary-general of the European Parliament in June 1988.

EUROLIB aims to promote a wider awareness of the contribution libraries make to the work of the institutions they serve. It seeks to enhance the professional performance of the staff of the institutional libraries through developing inter-library contacts of all kinds, staff exchanges, etc.. It endeavours to help participating libraries achieve economies of investment in technology and acquisitions through network and other partnerships promoting comprehensive bibliographic control and library and document delivery services. Since 1998 EUROLIB sees its developing participation in the EUROPA www LIBRARIES site as the main networking vehicle in support of its mission. EUROLIB's particular vocation to support European integration gives it a particular interest in all issues affecting the provision of an access to historic and contemporary collections, including conservation and copyright. more...
